#AcademicRunPlaylist - 12/4/25

A selfie of me in front of my packed white bookshelves. I'm a bald, middle-aged, white man with a red beard flecked with white. I'm wearing glasses with thick black rims and a dark aqua colored t-shirt.

It was another writing day for me, and while taking breaks I listened to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was an amazing panel on current US antitrust policy and enforcement with Roger Alford, Elinor Hoffmann, Lina Khan, Christina Ma, and Joshua H Soven at European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FehYEG_ygbY

Next was a great talk by Michaël Bikard on the gender bias in how we notice ideas at INSEAD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_srLmrqWAA

Next was an essential panel on M&A and politics with John Coates, Mara Faccio, Steven Lipin, Mihir N. Mehta, and Ivan Schlager at ECGI. This discussion dives right to the heart of the implications of our fraught moment for business and society broadly, with Coates in particular ensuring that we don't pretend everything is business as usual as the rule of law crumbles. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpubrEs8ooQ

Next was a compelling talk by Janet Vertesi on lessons from NASA's human-robot teams for HCI more broadly at the College of Information (INFO), University of Maryland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28pkHL4IHE4

Next was an excellent panel on the implications of recent changes to Delaware corporate law with Eduardo Gallardo, Ann Lipton, Edward Rock, and John Mark Zeberkiewicz at ECGI. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeNJNX8R7S8

Last was a fantastic talk by Bishnupriya Gupta on the economic impacts and legacies of British rule in India at LSE. Gupta presents a complex view of this history, teasing apart the disparate impact of colonial policies across the subcontinent. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1ZFaBDA6rM
