It's officially snake season🐍! And while avoiding our slithery friends I listened to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!
First was an informative panel on the Kenyan and Ugandan copyright bills at Lawyers Hub with Martin George Sseruwagi, Chebet Koros, Dan Aceda, and Linda Bonyo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_T9IqfC96I
Next was an amazing talk by Gabriel Kaptchuk on using and understanding differential privacy at the Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCIL). After giving an excellent run-through of the DP approach itself, Kaptchuk convincingly demonstrates issues with interpretations and implementations of DP and approaches for improving these problems. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNuAxCaD9hs
Next was an engaging discussion on recent developments around US labor at Power At Work with Seth Harris, Anne Lofaso, Jacob Morrison, and Lauren Kaori Gurley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBMHMCu-nmY
Next was an intriguing talk by Emily Wall on detecting and mitigating biases in visualization at HCIL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y--9onmfImU
Next was a great talk by Ken Goldberg on how engineering can help close the robotics "data gap" at MIT Robotics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtK5es0jVM4
Next was an interesting talk by Grace Lordan on managing a multigenerational workforce at the Oxford Economics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EELQkeWzWNg
Last was a fantastic conversation between Ann Lipton and Michael Levin on recent goings on at the unfortunately much more unpredictable SEC on the Shareholder Primacy podcast. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4kzec4DpOQ
