I had a hectic end to the week, but in between calls and shuttling the kids around I listened to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!
First was a fantastic talk by Eugenia Stamboliev on interrogating the notion of "trustworthy AI" at the Oxford Internet Institute. Stamboliev incisively picks apart the limited, problematic nature of what technologists refer to as "trustworthy," proposing a move to "democratic trustworthiness." Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EH4jJOeYpqo
Next was an interesting talk by Julia Krämer on balancing privacy and platform power in the mobile ecosystem at PLAMADISO – Platforms, Markets, and the Digital Society https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QfVQRsBCR0
Next was a great talk by Daniel Solove on the limitations of privacy rights https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4rzEmpYbe4
Next was an engaging conversation with Ilenna Jones on computational neuroscience in Africa and beyond at Deep Learning Indaba https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU-WMVRmAPU
Next was an amazing talk by Woodrow Hartzog on the need to prioritize collective well-being over individual protections in privacy law at the Boston University School of Law. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mi91tAI59s
Next was an excellent talk by Andrew Gordon Wilson on rethinking information theory for extremely large models at the NSF AI Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Interactions (IAIFI) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XBqlpi4fNk
Next was an intriguing talk by Daniel Lee on quantifying the structure and similarity of high dimensional neural representations at the GRASP Lab https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfyFzegb_no
