#AcademicRunPlaylist - 10/23/25

I was pretty sick today, but at least I had this guy to keep me company as I rested up and listened to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!
First was a fantastic talk by Frank Nagle (👋) on generative AI and work in open source software development at the MIT Initiative on the Digital Economy (MIT IDE). Using data from GitHub, Frank shows important changes in overall patterns, particularly for lower skill developers. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2JLP6vy3PY
Next was an excellent talk by Emily Black on evaluating generative AI harms at the MIT Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xCgdBNT6Eo
Next was an informative conversation with Claudia Zeisberger on the changing nature of private capital exits at INSEAD https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCQsqLMCBuA
Next was an interesting talk by Jessica Hullman on the value of information under static world assumptions in model-assisted decision-making at MIT IDE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVXQfrNtOxE
Next was a great talk by Jeff Weaver on the (null) impact of hiring subsidies for the disadvantaged at the National Bureau of Economic Research https://www.youtube.com/live/4HMBTmv_kI0?si=-XQXQ-CSBIZVRkG_&t=18446
Last was an intriguing talk by Ruru Hoong on designing information for AI-assisted decisions under static world assumptions at MIT IDE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAJTYraZ8yU
