#AcademicRunPlaylist - 9/14/24

A selfie of me sitting amidst blue stadium seats on a sunny day at a baseball stadium on the third base line. I'm a bald, middle-aged, white man with a red beard flecked with white. I'm wearing black sunglasses and a red MIT shirt, and I have a cardboard drink holder with a container of fries on it

I caught a WooSox game today, and while driving to and from the stadium I was able to catch some talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was the second day of the National Bureau of Economic Research wage dynamics in the 21st century conference. I loved the talk by Anna Stansbury on how firms respond to unions, showing a intriguing mix of increased productivity, prices, and sales along with higher wages and flat profitability https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btpblzohn7Y

Last was the NBER conference on megafirms and the economy, with notable talks by Yueran Ma (business concentration around the world) and Isabela Manelici (gains from foreign multinationals in an economy with distortions) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhyStk62GSA
