#AcademicRunPlaylist - 8/23/24

We got some good family news today, and while taking a breather outside I was able to fit in some talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was an intriguing talk by Yoni Kahn on uncertainty quantification from neural network correlation functions at the NSF AI Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Interactions (IAIFI) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i2-1UuE2fw&t=2s

Next was a wide-ranging talk by Stefano Puntoni on consumer reaction to offshoring, automation, and layoffs more broadly at PLAMADISO – Platforms, Markets, and the Digital Society https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxu_9w_o73s

Last was a fantastic panel on the ins and outs of both probabilistic and non-probabilistic surveys at GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences with Henning Silber, Stephanie Eckman, Peter Lugtig, and Barbara Felderer. This discussion gets into the meaning of representativeness, sampling methods, supplementary data challenges, and more. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emEG9xJe1CY
