#AcademicRunPlaylist - 8/16/24

A large pebble beach with the blueish-green Atlantic Ocean on the right, with Dover Castle and the White Cliffs of Dover rising above other buildings on the coastline on a sunny day

I had a great last full day in the UK down in Dover, and accompanying the lovely scenery were some talks from my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was a great talk by Merav Stern on how neural connectivity transforms space into time at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-YtSDk4dsY

Next was the evolutionary foundations of human uniqueness symposium at the Arizona State University Institute of Human Origins. I highly recommend the whole event, which includes incredible talks by Bill Kimbel (Darwin's view of human origins seen through a modern lens), Curtis Marean (the importance of Pleistocene South Africa), and Joan Silk (human sociality), among others https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaiGxqk7Eyw

Next was an intriguing talk by Irene Lynch Fannon on corporate law theory and boards at the Cambridge Faculty of Law https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_iG2ixofKc

Next was a nice talk by Patrick Bolton on incentivizing long term investing through "loyalty shares" at Columbia Business School https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX5G5t24bUA

Next was a compelling talk by Kim Dovey on the meaning of "place" for architects, urban planners, and the general public at UNSW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIZ1wCRRouc

Last was an engaging talk by Robert Cialdini and Steve Martin on how small changes can make a big difference when persuading others at the RSA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy0z8_BsvR4
