#AcademicRunPlaylist - 7/25/24

A selfie of me holding up a copy of I Think I Love My Job by Kalifa Oliver in front of a packed white bookshelf.

While it's a bit late, I wanted to shout out Kalifa Oliver's new, fantastic book, which you should pick up here: https://www.amazon.com/Think-Love-My-Job/dp/1953315372

After enjoying the book, I was also able to listen to some talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was day one of the National Bureau of Economic Research personnel economics conference. I highly recommend the whole day, and I particularly enjoyed talks by Raffaella Sadun (implementation and effects of training within firms) and Emily Nix (economic benefits, costs, and spillovers of dating/breaking up with the boss) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g757LZCZgh4

Next was a great talk by Guy Aridor on the impact of Apple's app tracking transparency policy on e-commerce firms at the Toulouse School of Economics. The results here are sobering and seem to mirror some of the effects seen with the GDPR - a hit to Meta, and a huge hit to small firm revenues https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z38xTXZCyGw
