#AcademicRunPlaylist - 7/1/24

A calm pond at sunset on a clear day, with dense fields of lily pads spreading across most of the surface. Two swans are barely visible close to the far bank with forest beyond. A few white clouds, with shading from orange to white to purple to deep blue, streak across the left portion of the sky

A bit of a crazy start to the week, but at least I was able to end the day with some great views to accompany talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was an interesting talk by Giulia Iori on learning and diffusion in OTC markets using network models at INET Oxford https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76wdIy90jxc

Next was an intriguing talk by Gustavo Nicolas Paez on bringing systems theory and dynamics into development economics at the Cambridge Society for Economic Pluralism https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jgsW7giRk8

Next was a great talk by Andrea Bacilieri on reconstructing firm-level input-output networks from partial information at INET Oxford https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFfAiVcRFCg

Next was a thought-provoking talk by Andreas Krause on using machine learning for continuous optimization and discovery at the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41RaCE9xLCM

Last was an excellent talk by Herbert Hovenkamp on the structure of US merger law and the 2023 US merger guidelines at the Mannheim Centre for Competition and Innovation (MaCCI). Although I have to say, when he brought up US Supreme Court precedent I laughed as it's unclear if precedent actually means anything at this point 😬 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtO8KJ68v4g
