I had to go out for physical meetings despite the ridiculous heat (pic is from last week, you don’t need a picture of me sweating profusely outside), but while attempting to not melt I listened to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was a great Power at Work panel on the latest American labor developments with Seth Harris, McKenna Schueler, Kate Bronfenbrenner, and Jacob Morrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGjAkju8__E

Next was the second day of the National Bureau of Economic Research conference on the aggregate labor market. I especially liked the talk by Justin Bloesch on differential worker earnings at productive firms https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53gPhduONVc

Next was the second day of the NBER conference on income and wealth, with standout talks by Anders Humlum (early labor market transformation under generative AI) and Aakash Kalyani (skill premium in times of rapid technological change). Highly recommend the whole day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJT3faFZgIQ

Next was the first day of the NBER innovation conference. I especially liked the talk by on moving from tasks to TFP, with an excellent discussion from David Deming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkm30Vxg-WA

Next was an interesting talk by Johannes Weber on regional occupations, local rents, and worker mobility at the NBER https://www.youtube.com/live/bgCFwh95znc?si=k9D4hGGoB-iOJqgP&t=8807

Last was a pair of talks by Ekaterina Gurkova (long-term human capital effects of temporary sectoral shocks) and John Grigsby (how the climate transition affects workers) at the NBER https://www.youtube.com/live/V9vnczkMtZA?si=109Xin5XQAnnQjeW&t=8266
