Another day, another Celtics win! So here's yet another green pic along with today's #AcademicRunPlaylist!
First was a great panel on which online platforms should be regulated by the DSA's anti-dark pattern provision at CPDP Conferences with Nataliia Bielova, Katarzyna Szymielewicz, Martin Madej, and Jeremy Bonan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8SKSmkSgZM
Next was a thought-provoking session on the philosophical underpinnings of individualism at Columbia's Center on Capitalism and Society with David Sidorsky and Richard Sennett https://youtu.be/o016c-CRwR0?si=AGCMvdV94J_lFhwj&t=463
Next was an engaging panel on grounding global AI governance in human rights law at CPDP with Joanna Bryson, Daniel Leufer, Anna Oosterlinck, and Sarah Chander https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hx_zR8Q0jiM
Next was an interesting session on individual values and economic outcomes at Columbia's Center on Capitalism and Society with Juan Vicente Sola, Hans-Joachim Voth, Raicho Bojilov, and Philip Howard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EckfGQ4ugDY
Next was an excellent panel comparing the EU and Brazilian AI acts at CPDP with Nicolo Zingales, Miriam Wimmer, Laura Schertel, and Mariana Marques Rielli https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6X1Ou3n95NI
Next was a compelling panel on individualism's impact on the economy at Columbia's Center on Capitalism and Society with Saskia Sassen, David Goodhart, Michael Woodford, Edmund Phelps, and Daniel Ross. These talks get more into the empirical research showing the many failings of the neoliberal individualism ideal, although the speakers come to different conclusions about fixes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6fletsmh1M
Last was a fantastic panel on the EU-US privacy quarrel at CPDP with Franziska Boehm, Calli Schroeder, Georgia Skouma, Valentin Steinhauer, and Margot Kaminski. The conversation presents an incredibly clear breakdown of data sharing challenges with the US under EU jurisprudence, the stakes for SMEs, and the legal state of play in the US (with particular focus on recent EOs). Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mj6-WcuQ9G8
