I had a great day at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston with the kids, and on our long drive up north later I was able to listen to some talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was a great talk by Serena Chen on how power shapes perceptions and expressions of self at UC Berkeley https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2snn09gE74

Next was an amazing talk by Luigi Zingales on how individual career incentives distort journalist criticism of industry at Columbia Business School. Zingales brings incisive observations and analysis to the important issue of holding power to account, suggesting that tenured academics are well positioned to step in and fill this void. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok0gIFSLxo8

Next was a pair of short talks by Nicolas Huynh (time series diffusion in the frequency domain) and Yangming Li (soft mixture denoising) at the University of Cambridge Department of Computer Science and Technology https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrVev_xnX10

Next was an excellent slate of talks at the New York University School of Law by Daryl Lim (patent holdups), Liza Vertinsky (pre-competition), and Ramsi Woodcock (innovation and reverse payments) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FwS08Xc1PY

Next was a compelling talk by Alan Manning on the economics of migration at the LSE. Manning thoroughly reviews the research on UK natives' perceptions of immigrants and their economic impact, the immunity of those perceptions to contrary evidence, and the overwhelming evidence that immigration has nearly no negative effects on natives in the medium to long term https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSenxnKTMdY

Next was an engaging panel on the 1926 UK general strike at the University of London School of Advanced Study with Keith Flett https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16u1NckxIuQ

Last was an interesting talk by Johannes Glückler on the regional economic impact of public universities at Heidelberg University https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzDXAjE_mjk
