#AcademicRunPlaylist - 5/11/24
Like clockwork, the wild asparagus is growing fast a bit over one week into May! While munching on one of the sprigs (to the surprise of some onlookers) I spent much of the day enjoying talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!
First was a great talk by Edoardo Airoldi on the design and analysis of randomized experiments on large networks at the Network Science Institute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tk3IbVF2N8M
Next was a fantastic talk by Jeffrey Pfeffer on leadership BS and fixing the leadership development process at the University of Melbourne. Jeff delivers some hard truths about the management scholarship, the importance of measuring what matters, and more. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRBUYx5xYKQ
Next was an interesting talk by Michael Siciliano on the dynamic, resource-dependent nature of scientific collaboration networks and implications for policy at the SONIC Research Group https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEkDwAITOxk
Next was an important talk by Jo Boyden and Sandra Fredman on the relationship between child gender roles, reproduction expectations, and economic productivity at the Oxford Martin School https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6nn_L8oAts
Next was an intriguing talk by Laleh Khalili on the role of the US Army Corps of Engineers in infrastructure development in the Arabian Peninsula and beyond at Brown University https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BevHZXEKGU4
Last was an excellent talk by Anat Admati on corporations and society at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOsY7LoP1NE
