#AcademicRunPlaylist - 5/23/25

We had a break in the rain, which gave me some time to get out for a nice run while listening to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!
First was a great panel on copyright law, generative AI, and the potential of copyright registration at the UCL Faculty of Laws with James Bennett and Martin Senftleben https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i62VXqSDkQ8
Next was an important pair of talks by Mehran Bahmani (perceptions of AI use in negotiation on outcomes) and Jameson Lingl (role of racist identity in driving zero sum thinking in relevant settings) at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard University (🫡) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJ4RHY1zQZM
Next was a fantastic discussion with Michael North on bias against older adults and stereotypes about younger generations on the Stanford Psychology Podcast. North demonstrates how these biases impede effective collaboration in work settings and how the world's changing demographics are impacting these dynamics. Highly recommend https://www.stanfordpsychologypodcast.com/episodes/episode/7aa168e3/153-mike-north-too-old-too-youngis-ageism-the-last-acceptable-bias
Last was "The Privacy Fallacy" by Ignacio Cofone. The first ~60% of this book is a review of privacy issues in the digital economy, and will be familiar to many who've spent time in the space. The rest of the book is an enlightening and clarifying examination of the privacy legal landscape and an analysis of strategies to improve on the status quo. Highly recommend https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/privacy-fallacy/547578F2A1AE0C40963105CE066B412E
