Bye Japan! I had a great time as always, especially with a fun trip to an excellent izakaya with a bunch of the affiliated Ritsumeikan University faculty and advisors! While watching the Tokyo skyline fade into the distance on my way to the airport, I was also able to spend a bit of time listening to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was a great talk by Ziv Epstein on how generative AI will shape online attention at the Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems - NICO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1CV-iPIvNk

Next was an interesting talk by Matthew Finlayson on uncovering non-public information about LLMs through APIs at the USC Information Sciences Institute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3U9nA-l2YAs

Next was a great talk by Sina Fazelpour on a non-idealized view of algorithmic fairness at the AI and Human Values working group https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Er5DXnw0mg&t=18s

Next was an excellent talk by Sandra González-Bailón on the unintended consequences of communication through networks at Northeastern University https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bhmr3W_Xc58

Next was a compelling talk by Lily Hu on introducing short term interventions in a theoretical labor market to ensure long term fairness at the Santa Fe Institute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RodVKUcnx0

Next was an intriguing talk by Dieter Fox on building simulation datasets to power large robotic decision making and control models at the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAZrBYCLnaA

Last was a fantastic symposium on solar industry working conditions at the Cornell University ILR School with Avalon Hoek Spaans, Jillian Morley, Lara R. Skinner, Levi Covington, and Annie Covington. The panel discussion here, centering workers and organizers in the industry, was extremely informative. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2Mydg-65C0
