#AcademicRunPlaylist - 4/23/24

I had some nice meetings in Tokyo today, and I also enjoyed speaking at a leading consulting firm's event to wrap up the day. The frequent train travel also gave me some time to listen to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was an informative panel on the state of tech entrepreneurship in Africa at TechCabal with Kelechi Njoku, Uwem Uwemakpan, and Dayvee Ngugi. These are some sobering numbers, but the mobility sector supplanting fintech as the largest recipient of investment seems significant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNbVvrK3ZHE

Next was a great talk by Norman Sadeh on developing systems that give people more insight into how their data is being collected (and what privacy policies actually mean) at the Carnegie Mellon University Software and Societal Systems Department https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alWxyDz5DAM

Next was an interesting talk by Karl Pertsch on building large robot datasets to enable general robot policy models at the GRASP Lab https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81PgFEH62Uw

Next was an engaging panel on the Rural/Metro case in Delaware and its legal legacy at the New York University School of Law with Travis Laster, Joel Friedlander, Robert Knauss, and Alan Stone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH6XZM0I-Lg

Last was an excellent talk by Alexander Tokarev on leader dark traits, workplace bullying, and employee depression at the Alliance Manchester Business School https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7kUI6prT_Y
