Thanks to Satoshi Nagano and Ritsumeikan University I had a great time visiting with leaders of a wide range of essential institutions in Niigata prefecture, complete with a few minutes relaxing at the public foot bath outside the Echigo Yuzawa train station! Last was a fantastic talk by Aaron Clauset on researcher productivity and data-driven predictions in the science of science at Northeastern University.
