#AcademicRunPlaylist - 4/20/21

I had a fabulous first day back in Japan (meetings start tomorrow), which meant a trip to the onsen and a very long morning walk with talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was day two of the Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State's annual antitrust conference. I particularly liked the opening panel on the DMA with Elettra Bietti, Fiona Scott Morton, Nicolas Petit, and Maria Luisa Stasi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UjwmequCfQ

Next was a feisty panel on AI and privacy at Silicon Flatirons Center for Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship with Chris Goodman, Paul Ohm, Spencer Overton, and Scott Skinner-Thompson. There's a lot of debate on the importance of data collection for building fair systems vs. harms to individual privacy, abolition vs. improvement, and more. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wmafph7r-LE

Next was an great talk by Chris (Krzysztof) Skonieczny on simulating low gravity for space robots (!) at CMU Robotics https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV_u6n8NZA4

Next was an intriguing talk by Esther Duflo on firm contracts, reputation, and networks at the Paris School of Economics
Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_mTIRqEnY8
Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btwee5swMiA

Last was an interesting talk by Marc Moore on rethinking corporate governance legal enquiry at the Cambridge Faculty of Law https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UxShEYvERs
