#AcademicRunPlaylist - 4/2/25

A selfie of me in front of a number of skyscrapers and CN Tower on a cloudy day. I'm a middle-aged white man with a white beard flecked with white. I'm wearing a grey winter hat under a blue dotted jacket with the hood pulled up and a grey backpack. My glasses have thick black rims.

I enjoyed spending the day in a country with non-self destructive tax policy, and on my flights I was also able to enjoy some talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) robotics symposium. I particularly liked the opening keynote by Rodney Brooks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn_LCmoprMs

Next was an excellent talk by Sayash Kapoor on rigorously evaluating AI performance claims at the Saïd Business School. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDE2VWCQsZw

Speaking of self-destructive policies, next was a fantastic conversation between Ann Lipton and Michael Levin on Delaware's statute amendments and the likely impact on corporate stakeholders on the Shareholder Primacy podcast. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu-8X-usEsU

Last was a great talk by Daniel Solove on privacy, technology, and the meaning of consent at the Carnegie Mellon University Software and Societal Systems Department https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHKJQQGpfdo
