#AcademicRunPlaylist - 12/15/24

A selfie of me on a path through the woods on a cloudy day. I'm a bald, middle-aged, white man with a red beard flecked with white. I'm wearing black sunglasses and a grey hoodie under a grey winter coat

It was another lovely fall day, and while taking the dogs on a long walk through the woods I also listened to a book for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

Today I listened to "The Rediscovery of America" by Ned Blackhawk, who has penned an essential addition to the US history canon, providing a combination of breadth and depth in Native and non-Native history that is unmatched. While the recent explosion of research in this area has yielded other excellent books that provide more analysis of some sections of what this book covers, this book provides the most comprehensive view of the arc of Native American history and its intersection with colonial powers and the US government. Highly recommend https://yalebooks.yale.edu/book/9780300276671/the-rediscovery-of-america/
