#AcademicRunPlaylist - 11/15/24

My large golden-ish dog and my medium black dog looking down a suburban street at twilight on a clear day. The full moon is just peaking over some trees, and well manicured lawns and shrubs dot both sides of the street

It was a hectic end to a hectic week, but I had a nice time taking these guys for a walk to take a break and throughout the day I was able to listen to talks for my #AcademicRunPlaylist!

First was an interesting talk by Maria Roche on using GitHub data to investigate startup open sourcing activity before funding rounds at the Workshop on Entrepreneurial Finance and Innovation (WEFI) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYyqf5enrRo

Next was a thought-provoking talk by Jeffrey Prince on international survey measurements of data privacy preferences at PLAMADISO – Platforms, Markets, and the Digital Society https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbl2F_Gsksk

Next was an intriguing talk by Jorge Guzman on entrepreneurial migration (with frequent references to Anmol Madan!) at WEFI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDJr-2AQCFk

Next was a nice talk by Bo Bian on whether US CEO incentives influenced China's technological advancement at WEFI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nqF65Ddwr8

Next was a compelling talk by Nils Napp on creating bio-inspired robotic construction systems at the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HM0zSywvGMI

Next was an excellent talk by Camille Hebert on the impact of learning from errors in entrepreneurship at WEFI. Using surveys of entrepreneur beliefs about their future prospects, Hebert convincingly demonstrates that entrepreneurs do learn from failure by making more accurate predictions after they make errors, with obvious implications for business performance. Highly recommend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Uczclz2h3g
